An Entrepreneurial Dream becomes a nationwide leader in restoration

ServiceMaster was founded in 1929 and was originally a moth-proofing company. Marion E. Wade, the founder, was previously a minor league baseball player who decided to begin his entrepreneurial journey right in his home. His belief that employees and customers should be viewed with dignity and respect helped his company grow over the years, exponentially.

For over 60 years ServiceMaster has provided services to those in need. In 1947 the company was incorporated with only half a dozen employees and yearly revenue of $125,000. Now, the company employs more than 50,000 people nationwide and earns over $7.8 billion annually. 5,400 of our companies are independently owned and operated.

Your local ServiceMaster technicians: Restoration by Advanced

With only $7,000 and a dream to their name, Chris, Jack and Judy Hitz decide to start a carpet and upholstery cleaning company after noticing an apparent lack in the Erie County, PA, and Chatauqua County, NY markets. The first base of operations opens in September 1995, in Ripley, NY, (among the many acres of Concord Grapes) where the Hitz family was raised.

Throughout the years, the company grows both its size and community involvement to provide better restoration services in fire, water, and other damage related areas. In 2005, Advanced is moved to the center of Erie to better serve it’s clients, and after building years of experience and training, Chris Hitz eventually takes over the business in 2007. In 2013 ServiceMaster Restoration by Advanced was born to help corporate cover a broader area.
